We also got the see our first Dog Sled Race - the World Championship Sled Dog Race.   This race was run on a track that runs around Anchorage.  The event is a part of the annual Fur Rondy (Fur Rondezvous) Festival held each February in Anchorage.   This festival celebrates the beginning of the end of Winter.  The following pictures also depicts some of the events held at Fur Rondy.

Since 1946, the World Championship Sled Dog Race
Has been a part of the Rondy Festival. It is one of the
only sled dog races in America that begins and ends
in the heart of a city. For three fun filled days, Rondy
closes off 4th Avenue and Anchorage goes to the dogs.
