While we were in Alaska in February 2002, President Bush stopped by for a visit while enroute to Asia.  He spoke in Hangar 1 at Elmendorf Airforce Base in Anchorage.   Our daughter Jeni Chubick was able to get us tickets to hear his speech.  About 1,500 to 2,000 people were croweded into the hangar.  We had to stand for about three hours to hear him speak.  This is the podium just before President Bush arrived.  You can see the podium under the left side of the flag in front of the ladie in red and just over the grey headed man in the foreground - The black looking podium.  Please note in later pictures that the Seal of the President of the United States is hanging on the podium (in this pic, since he hasn't arrived yet, it is not present).
